Emmaus Walking, Thursday April 30th

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”  Romans 10:17

How is God revealing Himself to you today?  In last Sunday’s sermon we listed several ideas; today consider another promise God has given you, that of eternal life with Him and all believers.

Jesus explained the day of final judgement in the last verses of Matthew 25, ending with “And these [the unrighteous] will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”  You are made righteous by Jesus’ blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins on Calvary’s cross.  God has promised you eternal life.  Jesus’ resurrection we celebrated just days ago is YOUR resurrection!  (see also 2 Timothy 2:11-12a)

So what will eternal life be like?  We don’t know all the details, but it will restore our relationship with God to how it was before sin.  Read the Genesis 1:26 – end of chapter 2, where God created man and woman “in His image”.  Adam and Eve lived in real bodies, in a real but perfect place, in real and perfect harmony with God.  No pain, sickness, death, nothing bad.  It’s really impossible for us to imagine, but what we can imagine is really great!

May your heart burn within you today, as God reveals Himself to you, as He comes along and walks with you today, through His promise of eternal life!
